This time it’s not pretend old age, travelling didn’t take it out of me, mostly because I refuse to accept that any more! I was up at 5 am and not home till 16:30, although a fair part of that was spent killing time in Ipswich before the Colchester appointment.
As part of my fitness and energy drive I prefer walking over anything else, I like to think that it is making my dodgy knee learn its lesson ‘the only way is my way’. I may have underestimated the amount of walking today, its 3.5 miles to Ipswich hospital and 1.2 to Colchester so as round trips that’s 9.4 miles, through in some walking around both sites, to the station at home and around town and we are probably nearer 12 miles!
I am not claiming that this is a marathon but then I’m not claiming I could even crawl a marathon if I tried. I am however not in the peak of physical condition, my knee has not yet learnt the lesson that i am trying to teach it and is complaining bitterly at today’s lectures. My left knee is a good 50% bigger than the right knee, won’t bend properly and is not happy taking weight, it appears to be having a tantrum against the exercise.
As a convenient addition my right wrist is reminding me of the number of times that I increased the limits on the rotation device today. My measured setting was -46 +65 and after a couple of rounds, with the assistance of Ben, we had -75 +90! Bearing in mind that the setting at the start involves straining to the maximum I can achieve in each direction it’s little surprise that increasing the numbers at this rate means my wrist is swollen and sore now as well as my knee.
They will all learn, bring on Appley
