I exchanged some messages with my gorgeous daughter today, I can’t bring myself to call messages talking, and she asked how much longer the healing was going to take. Obviously all answers on the subject are carefully drafted because, as every young girl knows Dads are simply invincible, but I said that I probably have another 6-12 months work.
I was considering that the healing had peaked to be honest, the physioterrorist is still seeing gains but they come much more slowly and slip back much further. But these are my arms and they are not about to be ignored or overlooked, press-ups today introduced a new sensation just to make sure I knew they were there. I’m used to the each arm popping during the first few reps and the fact that righty takes longer to pop but then continues noisily for the duration, I’m used to the crunching and aching but this was new.
Righty now feels like the end of the plate is not attached, kind of like it is acting as a lever over the lower part of my arm, the sensation is coupled with a weird stretching around the wrist and a burning after I finish. My guess is that I’ve pushed righty to the point that the bones are now being restricted by the scar tissue around the carpal tunnel, which we always expected, and that the burning is down to stressing the nerves within the restricted space. To add to the interest the scars are misbehaving, lefty feels like it is burning but obviously I can’t solve that as there is no sensation and right seems to be drying out and is thus more prone to scratching and bleeding.
So if I was in any doubt, the guys have reminded me that I am actually still healing or, at the very least, still changing. The diagnosis from Dr Gav is to continue with the current routine, whatever doesn’t kill you after all and let’s be honest I have as much of an idea as the medical world.
