Simply visiting the gym today has left me shattered, didn’t actually do any real work just ran through some exercises for me to do at home.
This is physio’s greatest challenge because the tasks are muscle isolation ones and that’s akin to trying to get a man to do aerobics. I’m all for things that I can push, stress and generally abuse but not a fan of softly softly.
James did an excellent job of pointing out how poor my upper body is, essentially by adapting I have taught my body the wrong way to do everything and that’s apparently bad. One test was laying on my side with my arm straight out but elbow bent at 90 degrees, the task was to lay my hand flat on the bed which apparently everyone can do. I was nowhere near even when I recruited Sam to help by pushing it down!
I’m hoping the challenge will prove enough to keep me focused on the exercise if not I shall have to find ways to make it more difficult.
