The dumbing down continues, or perhaps I am noticing it more? An advert for impulse body spray this evening which, for those non UK readers is a well known female only brand, showed flowers and butterflies as the amazing new scent perfumed the air. Then, just to remind the stupid, came the tag line ‘for her’.
Really? But with the feminine shape and size, the pink colour and floral scent I thought a liberal dousing would make a man more attractive to the opposite sex!
What will they do next? Advertising tampons with the tag line ‘for the woman in your household’? perhaps chocolates could cary ‘for when your in trouble’? head polish could warn ‘only for bald people’.
At this rate we will soon have adverts for cell phones that warn ‘not for eating’ where does the common sense line get drawn? Will we have cars that carry compulsory labels stating ‘caution: can move at speed’? Camping shops selling tents with labels sewn in that say ‘not suitable for traversing water’?
I remain convinced that those that require this level of instruction should not be allowed out unaccompanied. If Jon* is that stupid that he finds himself in the maze of female scented products in his local store and thinks “oo summer pansies that’s just the scent for me, the lads at the garage will be so jealous” then he deserves the ridicule and potential violence that ensues.
I also have a medical conundrum this evening and so far Dr Google has not helped. On the upper side of my left arm there is a patch of tattoo that is bleached and on the underside two smaller red and white patches. These patches calm down and then occasionally they flare up and become more prominent.
Now I believe that these patches are the result of the clamps used to hold the arm open during surgery, this would make sense as they are around the centre of the incision. The thing I can’t understand is why the skin remains marked surely any marking would be temporary? I also don’t understand why the upper arm seems bleached and the lower is red, two different clamps?
I have in my head all the conversations about using electricity to cut and seal, is one of these marks the earth clamp?
