As I sit on my sofa and look out to sea my gaze is attracted to a series of lights some red and blinking and a lower row of static ambers.
They have not extended the pier but they have chosen to illuminate some of those awful windmill things that are installed along the horizon. Now I am no fan of windmills, the whole carbon footprint is a poor showing of statistics to support the German economy and I consider them nothing more than a euro folly, but that aside the key word here is ‘some’.
I am certain that they are not normally illuminated so at first I thought that there must be workers amongst them and that they are illuminated for safety but that can’t be right, these things are huge if your near them you can’t miss them! I know its dark but why only illuminate some?
At the moment my best guess is that they light up when they are working, this would explain the fact that the illumination is rare and partial or at least it would explain it in a way that suits me! In fact perhaps the amber means that they are switched on and the red is a fault light!
