Well yesterday was much more like me, caught the 09:00 train, more on that later, back before 19:00 and finished writing work docs for 23:20!
Just getting to the depot, seeing people and trains was fantastic, made a real difference to my day and made me feel human. Pretty uneventful as journeys go although because I live in one of the poorer areas of the country I did have to avoid slam door stock, come on greater Anglia it’s time you brought some voyagers!
The world of off-peak travel is both crazy and oddly working if yesterday’s observations are anything to go by. I traveled on the 09:00 to save nearly £30 on the cost of a ticket although I thought peak used to be trains arriving in London before 9? But I can return on any train so presumably they hope the unpleasantness of the evening peak is enough to cause you to avoid? Interestingly the 09:00 is a busy old service with a lot of city workers choosing to work a later shift so finally the ambition to stretch the peak seems to be happening.
On a health note all injury sites survived the trip, lefty is not enjoying the morning having been trapped under my head last night though! The difficulty of sleeping around two casts is taking its toll on my back and I have now pulled something in my right shoulder in my efforts to compensate. As my consultant is so fond of saying though (cue concerned look at wrists) ” that, mr young is the least of your worries”
