Still silence from my good friends at Christies with regards to the local option, my mortgage offer is running out its taken that bloody long! The mortgage offer is just a technical point but it does highlight how impossible it is to do any form of business with the combination of Deloittes and London Taverns.
Of note in the ‘Pub Market report 2012’ is that London Taverns (now called LT) response to acquisitions was that they didn’t like to be drawn on the matter and the industry would have to ‘wait and see’. I wonder if LT are trying to use the receivership as an opportunity to increase their front line knowledge and cherry pick or aggressively leverage their position with respect to purchasing?
I know that this is pushing back to the Isle of Wight at the moment and although the Wroxhall location is better the property is such that I think the star of the weekend will be the East Cowes one, whilst it’s on a road at the edge of housing it is still minutes from the sea much as The Ship was. I am told that the original Ventnor pub remains on the market but as my search has matured I think I have outgrown the difficulties with site access and the burdensome licence conditions.
Now if somebody could confirm to my Son that the way forward is the Isle of Wight, a grand old pub, smaller schools and a generally better lifestyle albeit a more expensive one, then we will be sorted. Heres hoping that the weekend gives me the opportunity to at the least get some sense and direction from him so that I am not wasting a small fortune repeatedly viewing places that he has no interest in.
