Well the plan remains the plan but urgency is best garnered by options and to that end I continue to hunt. I now have three properties as alternatives on the desk and for information they are in :
Henley (Suffolk) – gorgeous well presented building, buckets of parking and land. But (of course there’s a but) no local chimney pots and most likely positioned as a destination food pub which is not for me. Have asked for more details and may be worthy of a visit.
Wroxhall (Isle of Wight) – nice looking building, more country house than pub, parking and land, adjacent to caravan site in reasonably busy village. Not coastal but stunning views over the glorious rolling fields. May not be trading and has the oddity of being a 999 year lease. Have asked for details but nothing yet, may be a visit for interest at the same time as . . .
East Cowes (isle of wight) – gorgeous building with large barn, parking, gardens, lots of room and good looking bars. On a corner plot adjacent to the entrance road to Osborne house (HRH as a neighbour). Just had confirmation that its currently trading as TAW so could be combined visit with above.
And of course we have walton on the naze – no land, no parking, modern building, end of terrace (all of the above are detached) but I know the area and the people and love the proximity of the sea.
It would all seem simple wouldn’t it? Especially given the dearest is walton? But as much as I think getting away and starting afresh in a gorgeous area with an interesting property would be a great idea it is massively important to me that the new start includes my mini me! The new pub is a joint venture for me and my son whether he likes it or not!
Keep tuned in folks, I promise this will be mere history to be discussed over my bar in no time.
