I spoke to the manager on Saturday and he told me that the management company have withdrawn him and are shutting the pub until Tuesday when a new manager will be in there. The bad news is that it looks like the new person will be a TAW which presents another series of challenges both to the upkeep of the building (TAWs rarely care about the fabric of the building) and timing because there is a notice period normally associated with a TAW and the management company will be receiving rent and will be even less motivated.
On the plus side (told you there was one) my rousing speech to deloittes last week seems to have had an effect on them and more importantly on Christies! The London office were in contact by email on saturday which was a surprise and the questions that they were asking seem to indicate that they have not been particularly well informed by their colleagues in the Ipswich office, certainly they seem very keen to expand their knowledge.
I have dutifully answered the questions and the London office tell me that they are in a meeting on Tuesday with their client and this sale has elevated itself up the agenda, deloittes remain on cc to the exchange so hopefully we can get this show on the road!!!
